A zip screen is a motorized exterior shade whose fabric edge is welded into a zipper that runs inside the side tracks. Because the fabric is captured in the track along its whole height, it does not blow out of the guides, flap or rattle the way a conventional roller shade does — which is what makes it usable outdoors on a windy patio.
What it does
- Kills low-angle sun. The one thing a roof cannot do. Late afternoon glare comes in sideways under any patio cover; a screen on that side is the only thing that stops it.
- Keeps the view. The mesh is chosen by openness factor — more open for view, tighter for shade and privacy. We quote the options against the orientation of your opening.
- Keeps insects out without a separate screen system.
- Drops the temperature underneath by stopping the sun before it reaches the glass or the deck, rather than after.
- Rolls away completely into a headbox above the opening when you do not want it.
Where it belongs on a project
Zip screens are rarely the whole answer on their own — they are the part that finishes a system. On a louvered pergola, the roof handles sun from above and rain; the screens close the sides against low sun, wind and insects. Fitted to a house, they cover a porch, a lanai or a run of glass that overheats in the afternoon.
Where you need to close the space against real weather rather than sun, look at clear roll-down shutters instead — solid polycarbonate rather than mesh, so the opening becomes weatherproof while staying transparent. Many projects use both: screens on the shaded sides, shutters where the weather comes from.
Build
- Extruded aluminum tracks and headbox, powder-coated in any RAL color.
- Motorized with remote control; several screens can run on one command.
- Made to the opening. Each screen is cut to its own opening, and openings wider than a single screen are divided with the division drawn before production.
- Recessed or surface-mounted headbox, depending on whether the structure is new or existing.
Ordering from the United States
- Send the opening dimensions, a photo and which way the opening faces. Orientation decides the fabric.
- We price your openings and confirm ocean freight to your nearest port in the same quotation.
- Container shipping from Istanbul, with shop drawings and fixing details per opening.
- Your contractor installs, with our engineering team reachable through the job.

Questions we get
Will it hold in wind?
The zipper edge keeps the fabric in the track, which is the difference between a zip screen and an ordinary outdoor roller shade. Every screen still has a wind limit, and we give you the limit for the size you order rather than a blanket claim.
Does it keep rain out?
It takes the sting out of blowing rain but it is a mesh, not a wall. For weatherproofing an opening, use clear roll-down shutters or glass.
Can I see out at night?
From inside with the lights on, no — the screen reads as a solid panel from the lit side, which is what gives you the privacy.
